myspace.com
now playing: jimmie spheeris, "somewhere there's a river"
ok, so i made the leap and finally went ahead and set up a myspace.com account...i could never understand why it would be necessary, since i already have a site with (what i would think would be) an easy name to remember, and i don't know why another one would be necessary.
however, after spending the last three hours plus browsing the site, it appears that i'm literally the last person i know whos' made said leap. it's unbelievable how many people that i haven't heard from in ages are relatively easy to find on there...
plus, i managed to find a few folks whose music kicks some pretty serious ass. i kinda applied the same instinct that i've always relied on in the past at the record stores (before the days of headphone-lined aisles that let you listen to an album before you buy it) - i just kinda glanced down the list and if someone struck me as having potential, i clicked on their name and checked them out.
there's some excellent music being made well under the radar of the idiots who still pose as the gatekeepers to the industry. if you've got the time to invest, jump into the myspace abyss and click around for a while...it sure is easy to get lost in there.
